Politischer Aschermittwoch bei Facebook. Bereits vor ein paar Tagen verkündete Adam Mosseri als Instagram-Chef eine Moderation für politische Inhalte. Mutter-Konzern Meta möchte die Sichtbarkeit für politische Themen auf Instagram und Threads einschränken.
If you follow political accounts on Threads or Instagram, we want to avoid getting between you and their content. That said, we also don’t want to proactively amplify political content from accounts you don’t follow. To that end, we’re extending our existing approach to how we avoid recommending political content to additional surfaces.
Over the next few weeks we will be improving how we avoid recommending content about politics on recommendation surfaces – like Explore, Reels, and Suggested Users – across both Instagram and Threads. If you want political recommendations, you will have a control to opt into getting them.
These recommendations updates apply to public accounts and only in places where we recommend content. They don’t change how we show people content from accounts they choose to follow. If political content is posted by an account that is not eligible to be recommended, that account’s content can still reach their followers in Feed and Stories.
Our goal is to preserve the ability for people to choose to interact with political content, while respecting each person’s appetite for it.

Dabei ist doch alles politisch. Auch die Politik, keine Politik mehr zu machen, denn davon profitieren nur die starken Stimmen, die es schon gibt. Marginalisierte Menschen bleiben am Rand stehen und dürfen nicht auf das Spielfeld. Neue Akteure, die in aus der sozialen Bewegung in die Politik einsteigen, werden klein gehalten. Neue Ideen? Wo? Neue Impulse? Stattdessen: Kuchen statt Brot. Brot und Spiele, alles auf Entertainment – aber bitte nicht so schrill. Immer schön normal bleiben. Die Normalisierung des Status Quo, während sich auf den Straßen in Deutschland eine neue Bewegung gegen rechts manifestiert.
We want Instagram and Threads to be a great experience for everyone. If you decide to follow accounts that post political content, we don’t want to get between you and their posts, but we also don’t want to proactively recommend political content from accounts you don’t follow.
